1 - Online Library Home Page
New books, ones that have been cataloged in the last 3 months, can be quickly located using Search Agent. From the Online Library home page (http://library.mpcc.edu) click the Submit button.

2 - Keyword Search Page
At the top of the next page, Recent Items opens another window where newly cataloged materials can be found. Only two clicks, the Submit Button and Recent Items, are needed to get to this screen.

3 - Choose a Time Period
Materials that have been cataloged up to three months ago may be included in the search. Leave the text boxes blank, select the time period, and click the Submit button. The items found will usually have recent copyright dates, but if an older item has been cataloged during the specified time, it will also be included in the list of found items.

4 - Select a Collection
Leave Scoping set to All Libraries or choose one of the Mid-Plains Community College Libraries to search. Click the down arrow and select an individual library from the list that appears.

5 - Finding Certain Types of Materials
A limit may also be placed on the kind of materials that will be included in the search. The Material Type button opens the window shown on the left. Check the boxes of the materials that should be included in the search. All material types will be searched if no box is checked.

6 - Example of Search Results
In this example, a search was run for DVDs cataloged in All Libraries during the last week. Click the title to open a window that contains the bibliographic record for the item. The bar at the top of the record contains a Reserve Title link to place it on hold. The item should be checked out within 2 days of the date it becomes available. The record may be printed by using the Print link or select the Title List to print a bibliography of all the items generated by the search.

7 - Expanding a Search
Results can always be expanded by selecting either the New Search or Modify Search link and changing the search parameters. In this second example, books were added as an additional material type. Note that more information can be found for the first entry by following the links listed under the title. Not all items contain this added information, but new books often include a summary and table of contents in the catalog record.
