Databases Available at MPCC
The databases listed on this Web site are available for MPCC student and staff use both on and off-campus. They have been selected based on the quality and usability of the information they contain. Lists have been prepared to aid in determining which database should be used to find information.
The Database List is an annotated guide that can be used to determine the type of information contained in a database. Most databases on this list can be used by simply clicking the link to that source. Some are restricted to student and staff use and are indicated by an Rs symbol.
Which Database is a diagram of the databases that are most often recommended by teachers for use in writing research papers. This group includes full-text magazine databases that contain scholarly information useful for reports and term papers. Using a graphic design, it provides a quick way to find what information is contained in the restricted databases.
Accessing Databases from Home Computers

To access the restricted databases, open your Campus Web account and select the Library Resources tab.
Then select the link to the database you want to use. If you are not sure of your choice, use the Which Database page to help select a database that contains the information you need.
Be sure to ask a librarian for help if you can not find appropriate information.
Using Passwords to Access Databases
Students that have not been issued a Campus Web account may still access most databases from off campus using a password. Your teachers should contact the library and inform us of the class that is being taught.
Then follow these directions to obtain the passwords:
* Call the library at 308 535-3726 or send an email to saathoffk@mpcc.edu
* Ask for the password for the database chart
* Click here and enter the password in the window
* Follow directions on the page that opens
