News Archives and Search Sites |
| | Archives contain articles from local, national, and international news sources. |
LexisNexis | | This Academic database contains over 350 full-text newspapers with coverage for some dating back to the early 1980s. Both national and regional newspapers--including Omaha World Herald back issues--can be searched often on the "... same day of publication, plus the most extensive archives available anywhere of Financial Times (dating back to 1982), The New York Times (dating back to 1980) and The Washington Post (dating back to 1977). In addition "broadcast transcripts from the major television and radio networks ... as well as political transcripts covering Congressional committee hearings, press briefings from the State, Justice, and Defense departments, and presidential news conferences" are included. |
eLibrary | | Although this database is smaller than LexisNexis and the coverage may not be as extensive, it contains "more than 230 full-text titles national and international titles including the Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, USA TODAY, Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post." ELibrary also contains "over 1.3 million transcripts from popular TV and radio programs like CBS Evening News, CNN, National Public Radio, and Fox News." |

| News on the Internet |
| | For research, the above archive databases are recommended. They provide full-text articles from authoritative sources that are usually not available for free on the Intenet. The following sites are ones you may want to try if you can not locate an article you need. Most do not archive articles (if they do, a fee is usually charged) but do provide daily or weekly coverage of current news and events. |
