Why Use These Databases?

The databases listed have been selected because they provide quality information that is useful in writing reports and doing research. Although the list contains many databases that are freely available on the Web, MPCC libraries pay for certain databases that contain information that would not otherwise be available. These databases, indicated by Rs, collect information from commercial magazines and other sources. They should be used when you need scholarly or peer-reviewed articles for papers or you want quality information for research. As a student, you may access and use this information for papers, assignments, and your own research.

Which DB Should I Use?

If you would like more information about one of the subscription databases, the list at the right has brief descriptions of each database. Some databases contain abstracts but no full-text articles. In most cases, abstracts can be used to get the full-text article through interlibrary loan or from another database. Each database has a help section that will provide more information about the database and how to use it. An easy to use visual guide to the restricted databases is also available. Be sure ask a librarian if you have any questions.

Can I Use A DB At Home?

Most databases can be used from your home computer. Several are available to all Nebraska citizens through NebraskaAccess. Databases that are restricted to student use should be accessed through Campus Web. In certain instances, a password may be needed. Contact a librarian or visit the help section for more details.
